The way people talk about this team now is nothing like we are use to, everyday there is some type of negative viral tweet about what the wizards are doing but that is to be expected when Jordan Poole is on your team, what is not expected is seeing people who are supposed to be “fans” of this team so fucking shocked that we are 2-14, like what did y’all expect to happen when they traded beal, Kp and cut taj just to make sure they didn’t have a competitive back up center, a lot of people won’t admit it, but you can tell by the dumb sly comments that a lot of y’all didn’t want this tank because now that it’s here it seems all common sense has gone out the window
TANK IM FOR TANKING
I never wanted to tank. I wanted to run it back with Beal and Porzingis.
I love that the team is 2-14. If we went to the playoffs, we’d be bounced first round, getting another horrible draft pick. During the beal / wall era, that’s where we were. Stuck in mediocre getting mediocre picks and not making a lot of moves. It’s best to rank when we don’t have an identity / team leader. Don’t get me wrong, I like guys like kuzma and gafford, but we aren’t a SERIOUS team at all.
There are dumbasses that have no clue what tanking/rebuilding means. “We should be trying to win every game!” they say. It’s the same shit in the r/Commanders sub.
I think this is pretty common tbh. Most people just want quick fixes and have no patience for a true rebuild.
It will take years. Good management can expedite the process, so fingers crossed.
Honestly, given the last 20 years in DC, I’d think fans would know what a proper tank looks like and what it can start.
2004 - Caps blow it all up, win the draft lottery, get Alex Ovechkin. Sustained success for 15 years and won a title and could have won more.
2008-9 - Nats drop a 100 games each year, draft Strasburg and Harper. Best 8 year run in franchise history ensues, culminating with a title.
But those years before getting those players were AWFUL. The Wizards are in the AWFUL phase, and I’m here for it.
Most fans in DC don’t remember the bad times. They bandwagoned to other teams (or supported their hometown team if they moved here) until the Caps or Nats were good again.
Op understand that most of the hate is because of Poole. He was popular from the NBA’s golden boys, the Warriors and had a dramatic Fallout. The Warriors haven’t been as good, so lots of people that are fans of the Warriors want to prove they made the right decision and rooting for him to fail. Go look at that last game thread when Poole sat. Check out that game thread on the NBA sub. You still see people blaming Poole even tho he didn’t play.
Many of us wanted a full rebuild because we could see that the current roster wasn’t talented enough to compete deep into the playoffs. Only a delusional fool like Tommy and Ted couldn’t see that
Bold of you to assume that a majority of Wizards fans even know what they want.
I wanted a tank but wasn’t particularly enthused about having Poole on the team.
A lot of outside talk about the wizards can be understood by realizing that almost no one is watching the games or following the team at all, outside of Jordan Poole memes and the bad shot clips that get posted online.
people just check the standings, see the wizards are at the bottom, and go #sowizardslol without any critical thought. and you know what maybe that’s what the team has earned, but it’s lazy criticism.
Perfect scenario for me:
-
Trade Kuz and Poole for whatever you can possibly get.
-
Start Jones, Kispert, Bilal, Deni, and Gaff and allow the young guys to get reps / develop
-
I’m happy with the tank. Would love to recoup some more assets for Kuz and Poole but that’s looking unlikely.
Only players worth a damn in my eyes are Deni and Bilal
I would prefer we were good, but I am OK with the tank.
I love kuz, bilal, deni, and Cory. Everyone else is trade bait.
