10-1 is a great place to be, but we know there is so much more season ahead! Happy Holidays, everyone! Hit me and let’s talk Birds …
Mr. Spadaro, how do you feel about a potential Goedert return this Sunday?
Hi Dave. Great win yesterday! What do you think is causing the slow starts to games recently? We’ve been behind at halftime for the last four games. Obviously the team’s been able to fight their way back for a win and make adjustments in all of those games, but there definitely seems to be a noticeable difference in how they’re playing in the first half vs. the second half (I’m sure you’ve seen those stats of how Jalen plays when he’s behind compared to how he plays when he’s ahead).
Is it a play calling issue? Or simply execution issues from the players? Curious to hear your thoughts.
With respects to defensive coverages, I noticed Bayard on Diggs on a few plays and I’m just curious to know, is there a reason we don’t use slay or bradberry to cover other teams #1’s? Not complaining in anyway as diggs was essentially a non issue yesterday. But just curious as to the thought process of Desai when formulating his schemes.
I think BJ is getting paid money by big pharma to increase eagles fans’ blood pressure to sell meds for it, thoughts?
What do you mean? Why is it BJ you are pointing to here?
Hi Dave! Do you think there’s more opportunities for this offense to improve by getting the ball to D’Andre Swift more, especially when he’s in space as opposed to just on delayed handoffs and RPO’s? We’ve seen glimpses of his play-making ability when we use him as a pass-catching option on screens or sweeps, but I’m surprised Brian and Nick aren’t designing other plays such as tosses, end-arounds, wheel routes, etc. for him.
Swift’s pass catching ability seems to be underutilized in our short passing game. Since opposing defenses how been sending additional coverage over AJ and sending more blitzes the past few weeks, we could use Swift more to open up our quick passing game so Jalen is able to get the ball out sooner, thoughts?
I think he is getting plenty of touches. He’s averaging 17.7 touches per game. I think that is a great number. They have tried to get him a time or three on wheel routes etc and it’s worked at times and not worked at others – he has 34 receptions on 39 targets. No, I’m fine with D’Andre and I’m fine with an offense that is third in the NFL in scoring points.
What’s the biggest discrepancy you see between last year and this year when playing with a lead? Last year we had these back breaking drives in the 4th quarter it seemed and I get with our schedule that’s not quite as possible this year but there’s something to be said about the eagles offense playing poorly with the lead (the defense usually plays well with a lead though). I understand wanting to be conservative and running out the clock, but I feel like our plays are a little too predictable right there. Maybe we should use a random number generator to choose some high percentage plays to mix it up a bit? Anyways, great win by them, and also what a kick and turnaround.
I don’t know what the discrepancy might be. Certainly want to close games effectively and it’s an area to improve upon in every phase of the game as I see it.
Hey Dave, what’s your take on officiating this season? A lot of other fan bases like to complain that the birds have enjoyed some favorable no-calls from the refs, notably last night, Reddick’s missed horse collar tackle. I looked up the stats last night and the Eagles aren’t even the least penalized team (16th after last night with 58 accepted penalties).
I don’t think Reddick used a horse-collar approach to tackle Allen. He grabbed him by the front of the jersey, so I don’t understand the commotion about the play.
I think the Eagles play disciplined football and it pays off. I don’t have an opinion of the refs. It’s not a healthy mental thing. They do the best they can do
