If you’re watching them to get through something, it’s nice to just have the walkthrough.

But if you’re watching them for the personality and the game play, then ofc the commentary should be there

Both are good in their own ways.

If I finished a game that I liked and I want to see how other players would react to it, then I’ll obviously watch gameplay videos with commentary.

But if I’m checking on a game to decide if I should buy it or not, or if I’m stuck playing whatever game, then I’d prefer to watch gameplay videos with no commentary.

Assuming it’s their first time playing the game, kinda useless. They’re not good for entertainment, because when I watch a gameplay it is mostly to see another person’s reactions. And for walkthroughs, actual walkthroughs are better because the person recording them (usually) already knows what they’re doing.

I use them as a means to rewatch parts where I have missed some dialogue or want to rewatch a cool moment without having someone voice it over.

half and half. Also why is there such a lack of female youtubers that do gameplay? Guys usually are loud and fast talking and it kind of gets annoying. Sometimes I just wanna hear some talking normal with a softer voice. Theres 3 girl on youtube I follow for that reason but girls also very different tastes in games as well.

I’ll use them for a guide if I get stuck. But for just watching for enjoyment, I prefer commentary.

I watch them sometimes. They are relaxing and fun to see how other people play a game I like or am learning to play

Use to hate them because I was like “what’s the point” lol.

Now if there is a story game that isn’t being played by the few people I actually still watch on YouTube that being Jesse Cox and maximillian Dood, and I want to check it out without actually spending the money.

I find I prefer no commentary, only because most of the color commentary is not very additive. I don’t mind theRadBrad because he doesn’t talk a mile a minute. he discusses strategy(if i choose this power up, if I go down this path, I’m not going there until I have item x) and he also does editing(I tried this but it didn’t work, and I’ll spare you the video of me eating it)

I prefer them. Commentary makes it uncomfortable for me to enjoy the content.

These are the only kind I’ll watch, period. Can’t stand constant annoying drivel when I’m just trying to take in what the game is like.
