It’s safe to say that since season four of Overwatch 2, the support role has been the most overpowered and game defining role. This came after numerous nerfs to tank and dps heroes like Roadhog, Sojourn, Zarya, and Genji, as well as numerous buffs to the support heroes themselves. Over time, the supports became ungodly overpowered and straight up game ruining for people like tank players against Ana-Zen.
But, if we nerf these support heroes in any meaningful way (not with cooldown timer reductions), they’ll become fresh food for flanker and dive heroes yet again. A complete and total rework of the support role and heroes is necessary unless they readd the off tank, which is never gonna happen. I wish it was a simple as “just nerf the supports”, but it unfortunately isn’t.
right now I am satisfied if they only nerf Ana to the ground and I mean Roadhog-Ball style nerf so that she goes out of ranked atleast for two seasons. The devs can gather stats and see the effects - whether they are positive or negative.
In higher ranks yes Baptiste and Ilari are problematic and their solutions are simpler - reduce their bodyshot damage by half. But Ana is a problem across every rank over bronze. Ana must be dealt with first.
I dont have much to complain about balancing rn, EXCEPT THAT REIN IS JUST WEAK :(
