It has been quite comical to hear how many fans are complaining and wanting to fire Carroll after a quick successful rebuild year.

Yes, obviously the offense has its problems. Also, injuries have played a big role for this team, especially on the O-line. Hell, we have a 41 year old RT starting for us.

IMO, the Seahawks are right where they should be, which is on a cusp of a wild card. I don’t think some fans realize how difficult it is to make it to the superbowl, let alone the playoffs.

  • To put it into perspective the 49ers havent won a super bowl since 94’.

The cowboys haven’t won a superbowl since 96’

We were absolutely spoiled by LOB years. This team is still young and growing.

Reich’s firing is a reminder that although Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll may have his flaws, he’s still better at his job than most and there’s a reason why he’s stuck around so long.

https://sports.yahoo.com/pete-carroll-ranks-third-among-190530617.html

If we fire Pete Carroll, your taking a complete gamble on a coach with a lesser resume. Now what if that new coach does worse? Then what?

Mike McDaniels, Kyle Shanahan, Matt Laflauer, Zac Taylor may all be good coaches. But, none of them have won a superbowl.

Another example :

There are 32 teams in the NFL. Each season, only 2 of these teams make it to the Super Bowl. This means that in any given season, the chance of a specific team making it to the Super Bowl is roughly ( \frac{2}{32} ) or ( \frac{1}{16} ). This translates to a 6.25% chance for any particular team to reach the Super Bowl in a given year.

However, this is an oversimplified calculation. Realistically, the difficulty varies significantly based on team strength, injuries, and other factors. Some teams might have a higher likelihood in a given season due to stronger rosters or weaker competition, while others might have a lower chance. This percentage is merely a statistical average and doesn’t account for the complexities of the sport.

Regardless of what you think of this team and its coaches. We’re a top team in the league in achievements. That alone should say something.

Pete Carroll isn’t immortal. The question of what happens if the next coach isn’t good is coming regardless. The question is, if we’re in a full rebuild now, is Carroll going to be coaching long enough to see it through, or do we move on now and start the process of finding the next longterm answer at HC and QB? If Pete thinks he has 5 years left in him, then it’s a moot point. He’ll be coaching until he retires, because I honestly don’t see this ownership group making a change.

Personally, I’d love nothing more than for Pete to go out on top.

A lot of Seahawks fans jumped on board in 2013 when we went to two SBs back to back, and that is the bar for every season now. “It was so easy then why don’t we just do it now?” Never mind we had one of the best defenses in NFL history and one of the best running backs in NFL history at that time.

I would spin it another way.

If you’re a “fan” who gets upset at consistently losing in the Wild Card or Divisional Round, and consider that to be mediocre and expect more, why subject yourself to the frustration? Why not just be a bandwagon fan and jump to whichever team has the top roster and top QB that season and go cheer them?

Other teams are allowed to be good. Other teams are allowed to have that slight edge that lets them beat the Seahawks. Other teams are allowed to have lucky breaks when it comes to season-defining slices of fortune like injuries, random draft luck, subjective refereeing calls.

Why spend all your energy being a whinging jackass about a team you have 0 influence over?

This is just a lazy way to look at things.

Over the last 5 years this team has won 1 playoff game. 1. That’s it. They haven’t been out of the divisional round since 2014. 21 teams have won at least 1 playoff game over the last 5 years.

So top team based on what? Being constantly SLIGHTLY above average? If that’s your expectation as a fan be my guest.

I don’t expect us to be in the Super Bowl every year. No one does that’s a strawman. But I expect us to at least make SOME noise in the playoffs once a fucking decade. And guess what? It’s about to be a fucking decade in a year.

The LOB is ages ago. Might as well be a million years in football terms. Look at the last 7-8 years. Some of which were still with prime Wilson…

Watching Bears Vikings reminds me that firing up your HC because you want SB doesn’t make problems go away.

It also in the Vikings case reminds me how hiring a bright young offensive minded HC and playcaller doesn’t make your offense better than what the Seahawks’ current floor is.

Seriously? Your premise is we’re not happy that the Seahawks haven’t won a Super Bowl? That’s some straight up strawman garbage right there.

LaFluer has won 13 games twice and a NFCCG appearance

Taylor has has an AFCCG and a SB appearance

Shanahan has won 13 games twice, had 3 NFCCG appearances and a SB appearance and just orchestrated an absolute tail-kicking on Thursday

McDaniel is on the cusp of joining those as an elite coach

Meanwhile, Pete Carroll hasn’t even sniffed any of those achievements since 2014.

If you honestly, truly, think we should judge those four on “haven’t won a super bowl” you’re out of your mind. Take your over-righteous, preachy attitude about how we fan somewhere else, would you please.

I am sorry I “offended” you lol

But, isn’t the end goal always to win the superbowl? None of that matters if your not making it to the end.

How dare you have a level-headed take and possess an above-average understanding of the NFL. This is Reddit, sir.
