Relative to the salaries of players underperforming (i.e. Quandre Diggs), expectations of players not playing up to par like Derrick Hall, Woolen’s sophomore slump, most of the offensive line struggling, and Geno’s regression, where do you think we go from here?
Are there implications of complacency by players who’ve gotten paid like Dre’mont Jones? Where is the hunger/drive and veteran leadership on this team? So far it seems that Waldron has clearly lacked in game adjustments and game planning, and that we simply have no identity (why we aren’t running the ball more consistently or utilizing our TEs is simply baffling). There’s so much talent on offense that it just eludes me how we’re playing this poorly (especially in the redzone), even with the questions surrounding the coaching, Geno Smith’s decision making, and the offensive line woes. This team just looks ill prepared, outmatched, and undisciplined time and time again. Geno doesn’t seem to progressing through his reads, and a lot of that is due to pass protection, but the fact we don’t run screens or 2 TE sets to offset the pressure feels asinine.
Where do we go from this point? Wait for new ownership to hold Pete (or the next head coach) accountable? It feels like we’re in such a peculiar situation and Pete’s recent remarks on ESPN 710 feel inadequate and uncertain, even he can’t ascertain a lot of it (which is alarming).
