I’ve said this before but Shamet really was unfairly treated in the Suns.
Like the dude is not known for his defence. He shines when he comes off the bench for 13~15mins per game and does bench scoring, eg. go look up his stats in the Brooklyn Nets.
Of course when you give him large minutes and make him defend their no.2 or 3 player he’s going to get crushed miserably and get exploited. This also ruins the guy’s confidence and rhythm.
He’s not an amazing player but definitely a decent role player for what he does (bench scorer) and can still shoot at efficient level (more or less).
I defended him quite a bit as well, he couldn’t catch a break here though, for whatever reason he was just worse here than he’s been in any other stop. But more than that, the reason I defended him was that he was just a better option than all defense less than zero offense (Shamet) or all offense less than zero defense (Ross) or no offense or defense (Lee post all star break, or really any other stretch of his career besides the first half of 22-23)
