These three guys balled out tonight, Flores continues to shine. Every game I’m hoping B Flo stick with us just one more year lol just one more messily year. Just enough to get another defensive draft class under the new regime,

Go back and watch the film. Metellus still is clueless in coverage. Yes, he can Blitz, but multiple plays he is sitting in empty spade, not covering anybody, with his eye pointed at the quarterback. He leaves people wide open because instead of playing thendeepest man in his zone, he drops back to where the breakpoint of his zone is.

For what it’s worth, zone coverage is not easy to play as a defender. It’s a matter of dropping back, not getting beat deep, while still making a play on the ball. In the final drive, Josh drops back in coverage with no defenders (odd choice because DJ Moore ran a shallow in-route). DJ Moore catches the ball over IVP (who was on a QB spy). Where is Metellus, who has the zone? 15 yards off the line of scrimmage, also spying the QB, instead of coverage Moore or any offensive player.

Another huge weird problem was the angles of pursuit and wrap up. Fields should have been sacked least 6 more times to my count. Hands on the QB, but then weak attempt lead to multiple LONG scrambles. This was absolutely a dagger to see each time it happened.

Dawg Metellus also had the responsibility of keeping Fields in check. He had 9 tackles, an assisted sack and 2 forced fumbles. He had a very good game last night, he made an impact.

You can make good plays and bad games in a game and still have net-bad play. I don’t mind getting downvoted by this sub, given their opinions, but I think that 100% Metellus is not a good player. Wildly inconsistent and can’t do his main job of coverage or make intelligent on the fly decisions.

2 forced fumbles and 9 tackles is a great game… on paper. What about his blown coverages?

Metellus was used as an edge, a spy and a safety last night. I just don’t think you quite understand how much responsibility he was tasked with and succeeded and are nitpicking one coverage play. He had a damn good game man.
