Haven’t seen this topic discussed too often, curious on everyone’s thoughts. IMO the big issue is subpar player development. It seems like we draft players that just end up plateauing after a year or two. When was the last time we drafted a player who far exceeded their expectations? The teams that come to mind that stand out in this area in recent years would be OKC, Spurs and Golden State. I’m referring to players that make you say to yourself, “I didn’t see him becoming that good coming out the draft”.

This all goes back to team building - How the fuck are players going to develop with what is going on around them on the court? This team is so devoid of talent that it just cannot happen.

Cade for the majority in his career has shared a backcourt with a dude who is notorious for being (whether it’s true or not) literally the worst player in the NBA.

Ausar Thompson plays legitimate minutes next to the biggest draft bust since Anthony Bennett in James Wiseman.

Jaden Ivey comes off the bench until these last 2 games and gets tasked with making shit happen next to the likes of Stanley Umude or Isaiah Livers.

No young player in the NBA sans a Luka level, generational talent could ever develop under these conditions
