Of course this depends on if the team continues this success so let’s imagine it does for the sake of this argument.

Now, did I place a $5 bet that he would win COTY at the beginning of this season? Yes. However, I would say their aren’t too many coaches that are crushing it right now. And if anything, showing a dramatic improvement mid season shows exactly how big of an impact he was able to make in corrections.

If not Payton, then who?

We’d have to beat the lions and Texans, if we end 11-6 after starting 1-5 and beat the top 2 other candidates then he has a shot

Dan Campbell is pretty much a lock in Detroit unless they suffer a monumental collapse.

Just feel like it’s Ryans to lose. He was tbh, the best new coach hire & he’s been a big culture builder for Houston, which, impressive because Houston culture is hiring bad coaches and then firing them after one season

Sean Payton coming off a hiatus and taking virtually the same Broncos team that just went 5-12 and were an embarrassment. Starting the season off 1-5 and actually bringing the Broncos to playoff contention. If they keep going, and make the playoffs, idk how he isn’t CotY

Ultimately I say no. You can’t win the award because you corrected your own fuck up.

Honestly Andy Reid must be in the mix because he’s got a team with literally no offensive pieces apart from Kelce to be competitive.

He literally has Mahomes, Pacheco, a great o-line, and a top 5 defense.

COTY is basically predicated on 1 stat: wins. The coach with the most wins typically gets the award. I personally think D. Campbell and Nick Sirianni are the frontrunners, with Sirianni probably winning the award in the end. The only way SP could get a sniff at the award is if we win out, go 12-5, and potentially win the division. Then the narrative would switch overwhelmingly towards Payton, giving him the kudos for the monumental turnaround
