Even if Mullins gets the nod initially he will have a short leash. Unless he tears it up, we will be seeing plenty of Hall before the year is done.

All I know is that this sub has already built Hall up to an unobtainable level based on one drive that ended with a field goal.

Wrong, they’re not building him up, they want to see what he can do. Realistic fans know the Vikes aren’t going to the SB, so why not look at the young QB, instead of the retread in Mullens.

I guess at this point just run JJ and all 3 qbs in practice. Whoever JJ likes the ball best from give the starter to him.

    National Media wants Dobbs

    Fans want Hall

    KOC wants Mullens

I mean, I can understand why. He’s started games (16 I think), he’s been with the team since 2022 so he’s had more time in the system/playbook/with the other players… in theory he should be the guy to step in.

But, of course, we want to see what we have with Hall, because we absolutely crave having a young QB that’s solid.

Unfortunately, I think you’re right. It should be Hall. Everyone knows what Mullens and Dobbs are, and that’s Journey men NFL QB’s.

Dobbs was clearly riding the hot hand. I think this past game was evidence that KOC wants a guy that can play within the pocket. Honestly, it felt like KOC kept Dobbs out there and basically said prove to me you can throw well.

The closest KOC came to endorsing Dobbs as the guy for the rest of the season was in a film room session on vikings.com last week where he said something like “We’ve got a bunch of good options, but I don’t really want to be starting a bunch of different quarterbacks this year. It’s hard to win like that”.

I definitely agree that they should decide who they want the starter to be this week, so that when the team’s back in the building next week they can put all of their effort into installing a gameplan around that player’s strengths and weaknesses. I really hope we don’t hear about any kind of rep splitting QB competition in practices, there just isn’t enough time to be doing something like that at this point in the season.

If JJ wants highest non-qb money then Justin Jefferson should focus on maximizing performance of the qb

IMO maximizing Jefferson would probably be Mullens. Not sure I love that.

If we reach the point of “season is over” at any time I do believe we should start Hall, to get him some reps and see.

I’d be fine with Dobbs competing for 1st/2nd QB duties next year, with a full offseason, but right now I don’t think there is a QB on our current roster that we should move all in on next season with. Kirk if he does a more team friendly contract I’d be okay with, but he isn’t getting any younger and now coming off an achiles, on top of the fact that we didn’t do a helluva lot with him the first 4 seasons.
