I purchased a refurbished unit from Amazon around late August 2023, (like 93 days ago on a 90 day warranty product (-__- ). Unit had Windows 10 preloaded and I decided to swap to the latest version of Xubuntu because this device had a very singular purpose for streaming to my living room TV. Everything worked fine for 91 days, but then all of a sudden the 2 display ports quit recognizing any inputs. Onboard VGA works (as does every other function/io), just no DisplayPort functionality.
-it’s worth mentioning the 1 displayport is onboard of the motherboard and the other is a swap-able i/o port, neither works and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the swap-able displayport with no success.
Thinking that it might be Xubuntu related (as I’m a novice Linux user), I decided to install Ubuntu to see if that might fix it. It didn’t. So I reinstalled a clean Windows 10 install and still no luck. So it’s not an OS issue - (no driver updates popped up stating that they were missing for any of the 3 OS installs).
I don’t recall at which step of the 3 OS installs I did this, but I did update the BIOS to the latest version in hopes that it would fix the problem as well.
Specs:
HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini 65W
Product: W2R53UC
Intel i5-6500T
240GB M.2 nvme
16G DDR4
I’m open to try anything to get it fixed, but in an ideal world, I’d like to go back to Xubuntu on the device as this will force me to use Linux more often.
u/jamvanderloeff I’m both happy and embarrassed to state that a new DisplayPort to HDMI dongle fixed the issue. Thanks for your assistance.
