Curious as to what the sentiment around Will Lutz is from a broader Broncos fan base. It seems like every week in my Game Day group chat with my buddies someone always brings up wanting to get rid of Lutz. On Thanksgiving my brother even brought it up. We are all Broncos fans and watch the games. Sure we aren’t NFL coaches but we have a good understanding of the game. I think Lutz is doing fine, but apparently I’m the only one within my group.
Just for some perspective:
Lutz is 24/26 92.3% on FGs
Tied for 4h in FG attempts
9th in FG make percentage (min 5 attempts)
In my opinion the 2 misses he has are excusable. The raiders miss, he was still fairly new to the team. I chalk that up to a chemistry issue with the holder. The miss against the chiefs was a block, which to me is the line’s fault.
Edited for formatting.
He’s definitely been pretty reliable aside from Week 1 and the nearly wrecked finish of the Buffalo game (not being sarcastic, I think he’s pretty clearly been money outside of those two instances). However, I want to see how he does with longer FGs. His longest this season is just 52 yards. His career long is 60, which he made last year in New Orleans, so we know he has a pretty strong leg. I just want to see him do it wearing orange, lol.
