I think the league is stacked right now so there might have been worse team in the last 10 years but I believe this is the worst team for a single season in the last 10 years! Normally I can come up with a hypothetical way to make the Pistons good (trade, free agency, new management/coaching, ect…) but I seriously see no light at the end of the tunnel other than Gores to sell the team. Even if this happens it still might take another 5-10 years. When Monty first declined the job then accepted after Gores begged him and paid him so much he couldn’t decline I knew it was over. The guy has a lot going on with his family and only took the job for the money. I can’t blame him but he didn’t believe in this team from the start and now everything is even more of a disaster than it was. I also knew that if we didn’t get the #1 overall pick it was over as well since wemby was the only guy that could potentially change the franchise. I don’t think wemby would help immediately but at least we would have hope.

You know what i’m gonna buck the trend here and say yeah we’re the worst.

The 2012 bobcats you looked at their starting lineup and it was clear to everybody in the universe that they were going to be awful. They had a 33 year old Corey Maggette as their star player, and he didn’t even lead the team in scoring. Gerald Henderson led them in scoring with an absolutely blazing 15.1 points per game.

They were quite literally never going to be even close to good, and i think winning 7 games was almost a good outcome for them.

Pistons had so much hype, we’ve been building for 4 years now to finally take a minor step forward, we have a recent #1 pick, and back to back #5 picks who were NBA-ready as advertised from day 1, and we’ve got one of the more promising young centers in the league.

We flat out shouldn’t be as bad as we are right now, and for me that makes it even worse than being expected to lose and losing.

Damn I wasn’t expecting what you said at the end 🤣 but you are right! This team is playing in a more talented NBA as a whole compared to 2012 and they still suck worse! Then you look at all the young talent and think how?!? This literally is the worst ran franchise in professional sports! it’s sad to say this since gores is running the operation like a fantasy gm who thought they could do the real thing 🤣… so I can’t get that mad but damn did it fail for him… gores has never been shy to spend on coaching and the back office along with willing to go deep into luxury tax if we were actually good but it still didn’t matter! This is worse than we could have ever imagined homie 😔

No, and it’s not even close. The 2012 Bobcats had a -15.2 net rating (7 less than the 2nd worst team that year). They were dead last in offense and defense.

We’ve at least been competitive at times. Our net rating is -8.1 (3rd worst in the league). 27th and 24th in offense and defense.

Yes, right there with 2012 bobcats and process Sixers. I think we’ll need 9 wins to make sure we’re not worse than the bobcats

We have hope with Duren/Ausar the same way we would’ve had hope with Wemby. The '04 team had Darko Milicic (over Wade, Carmelo and Bosh) and still ended Shaq/Kobe Lakers era. All I’m saying those draft picks mean nothing if Weaver doesn’t know how to build a team.
