Hi all,
I’ve browsed countless of threads with recommendations for apps, but I would like some inspiration for how to get the most out of my watch.
Using it for sleep tracking, notifications and so on is a given, but maybe you guys could share you “daily routine”? Topics like most used apps, set goal in health, clever usage of third party apps and so on are more than welcomed.
Thanks!

I use mine for more than I thought I would, but it took me some time to set up.
- Fitness. But not on a level of going to a gym. On the level of making a game to close my rings, especially that damn green one, every day. This comes from my doc saying I need to get out and moving to improve my heart health. It’s worked, turning it into a game. I try to add to the goal every quarter. dropped over 90 pounds this year just because of this and a diet change of restricting salt to 1500 mg / day.
- WorkOutDoors - this is what I use to track the walks, bike rides, hikes and elliptical exercises I do. Takes some dedicated time to set up the screens with the data you want shown, but after that, it is the best out there. No sub, just small buy-in price.
- Authenticators - Everything is going this route, so I have all my authenticators set up for work and play to notify me on the watch. With AWU2 with cellular I dont even need the phone for most. some still do because there isnt a dedicated app. Too many to list, but MS Authenticator and OKTA are the 2 I use most.
- Weather - I used to have Carrot, but once the WatchOS was updated and the built-in weather app started behaving correctly, I canceled the sub. So far, it’s been fine and accurate. I use it to determine what I wear in the morning (jackets/coats) and if I am going to walk or hike or stay in and do my elliptical that afternoon.
- Messages - started out only reading them, then responding to them on my phone. But now, with the enhanced dictation, I respond on the watch unless I want to send media.
- Music and Books - Apple Music, YouTube Music and Audible are great. On my hikes, walks and bike rides, I leave the phone at home. So far, all are working great. YTMusic and Apple Music stream, I download the books 1 at a time in Audible. Works great with AirPods.
- I track my water intake as my doc wants me to only drink so much in a day (128 oz). On the phone I also watch the sodium and come January as a new goal, I am going to start really keeping track of carbs to try and drop a bit more this coming year.
- I can tell the time. Funny how that can get left off lists, but it is a watch.
- A few cool complications and widgets come from different apps, but I dont really get into those on a daily basis. Lumy, Fantastical, Sundial, Heart Analyzer are the ones off the top of my head.
- I use MyQ to open my garage when I get home from walking or biking. dont have a keypad anymore and dont want to stash an opener somewhere.
Nice list! How can you still use MS Authenticator on the watch? I thought they discontinued the app for AW?
It pops up a y/n notification every monday (when I have to auth to my personal email on an exchange server)
