Watching the Wizards get knocked around night after night I mean I knew this was going to be a tough season but just want to know what to expect for the next few seasons. A few questions I have and was hoping to get deeper insight and opinions. When do you think we can become a competitive franchise again? 3 years? Longer? I think we’ve seen a lot of Wes Unseld Jr. now and Im not sold on his ability to coach and develop young players. Will there be a change at head coach? When? I almost feel after hearing some of Coulibaly’s comments regarding players not playing for each other and the attitude in the locker room that we are doing a disservice to our young and developing players.

One way to look at it would be our unresolved pick from the Wall for Westbrook trade that the NYK currently owns. It is still protected top 12 in 2024, top 10 in 2025, and top 8 in 2026, after which it conveys into a 2026 and 2027 second round pick. You’d best believe Winger & Dawkins will do everything they can in order to keep all three of those FRPs while also continuing to amass more assets alongside them.

I think a lot of us were ready for them to lose and to be developing. But it’s starting to get to where we’re embarrassing as a franchise. Like damaging to the long term brand and viability of the organization.

The answer for how long it’s gonna take is “longer than you think” because some bullshit always happens to the Wizards

There’s a lot to unpack here.

3 years of tanking is enough - as long as you hit on your 3 top picks. I have faith in this new management group because they are from OKC - who are the “best incubator of young talent in the L” to quote Sam Vecenie.

Drafting 1-2 rotation players with later picks is also important. We’ll miss on most of the 2nds…but need some rotation guys there.

You need to make some smart trades for good rotational pieces, and build around the edges. This is what’s gone wrong in Detroit.

We have to nail the Kuzma trade. This would help accelerate the process (see Magic : Vucevic deal). And yes, we should trade Kuz. This should be done by the summer.

I think Jones can get us a decent return.

Hot take - but I actually believe Poole off the bench as a microwave scorer can work. We’re stuck with him anyway, but that’s fine cause we won’t have cap players for a long time.

WUJ - i wouldn’t be surprised if management put their coach in this summer. I also wouldn’t be shocked if they keep him, similar to the Magic sticking with Mosley during the rebuild. Either way is probably fine 🤷‍♂️

It all depends on how the next two picks pan out, if their busts I expect this group to go all in on building around Deni and see where that gets them, but if those picks hit then we should be close to play in territory by 2025-26, basically it all depends on how these next two picks turn out but I expect this team to be playing to win by 2025-26 regardless

There is no way Ted does this for more than another year after this season, at least intentionally lol. We could unintentionally be this bad for 5 years.
