It’ll be sad to see Kuzma traded but it’s the best move for him and the team this season
I won’t even be sad, assuming he gets traded to a contender. Really good dude who deserves the chance to compete for a chip. If we can get back a good young player or two and some draft assets it’s a win-win.
It’s glacial, but since he’s been starting, he’s finally beginning to take in the lessons and do more things. But he scored in the single digits in 3 of the last 6 games, so he’s not there yet. I can’t wait til we trade some of the better players/vets we have on our team and he’s put into fight or flight mode. That’s when we’ll really know what we have, if anything.
“But why would we trade Beal for picks, you hope to turn picks into a guy like Beal.”
This was 100% me. I’m not a fan of “the process” since it has yet to work, and the idea at the time wasn’t to get rid of everybody…just Beal. So 2 different things and though I’m opposed to both, it’s for different reasons. If you’re only dealing your best player so you can get future picks, etc, then it’s not doing much if your stated goal is to make it past where you were previously. So if it’s just getting rid of one player and then going from there, bleah.
If it’s trading everybody for anything you can get, and doing a “The Process” style teardown, still bleah, and still likely to fail, but here we are, because for most fans, at least it’s different than what we were doing prior.
So the “The Process” process has failed, because it’s been 10+ years now and they never achieved what they set out to do, which was make it past the second round. Will our “Process” work? Assuming we trade Kuz/Poole/Jones/Gallo/Shamet/Muscala and go into full reboot, when are we gonna hit our goal, which is surely to get to an Eastern Conference Finals (as well)? I don’t see that happening for at least 7 or 8 years unless magical things happen with 2 players we currently don’t know about, and a coach we currently aren’t thinking of. So like by 2030, MAYbe we’re able to get past the FIRST round of the playoffs. Maybe.
And yeah, we’re going to sit around and hope we draft somebody that can break Beal’s positive franchise records. Dude can ball. No need to try to rewrite history cause we’re mad his teams with Wall never got to the ECF. Take away Kuz and not a single guy on the roster is anywhere close to Beal. Not even close. Take away Kuz and not a single guy on the roster is getting a solitary vote for any player award - DPOY, MVP, Most Improved, ROTY, nothing. So yeah, we are indeed gonna be drafting the next 5, 6 years, hoping and praying someone as good or better than Beal comes up as a Wizard, and doesn’t decide to leave the team the moment he gets that good.
Hey man. How you doin, lol. Okay, so what are Kuz, JP or Tyus realistically doing the next 2 weeks prior to when they can first be traded, that’s going to up their trade value dramatically. Poole could be consistent for 2 weeks but anybody employed by an NBA team already knows he is talented and 17 or 25 bad games on the Wizards doesnt change that. Same with Kuz. He’s demonstrated obvious beastly talent, his value is evident. Tyus is Tyus. He gets you 12-20 points, low turnovers, money floater, shaky 3, still 6’1ish.
Kuz especially needs to sit cause the team is using him as a crutch and its time to make other guys step up and develop. Only thing that could happen in the next 2 weeks is one of them gets a bad injury.
Al Horford clearly could still ball when the Thunder did what they did. I mean we’re not gonna have the courage to do something bold like that but thats what needs to happen because of how the team is playing.
Can you upload Kuz saying this quote Josh Robbins chronicled?
Kyle Kuzma was asked by @TheAthleticNBA how this game got out of hand. His answer: “We can’t guard a stop sign. That’s kind of really what it boils down to. We let anybody get whatever they want on us. So, until we change that, then that’s probably going to be the result.”
I think a lot of us were ready for them to lose and to be developing. But it’s starting to get to where we’re embarrassing as a franchise. Like damaging to the long term brand and viability of the organization.
Stuff like this is what’s gonna get people fired and cut the rebuild short. Even when Poole manages not to have a viral-for-the-wrong-reasons, we’re letting other teams just style on us. No owner or front office wants to be looked at as a complete joke. We already had the AAU comments and we get ragged on after like almost every game. With Kuz and JP and Tyus as 3 of the starting 5, there’s always gonna be an expectation of at least competence. After some of these games, the Wizards put up like 2 minutes of footage of the postgame. The Wizards photo page hasn’t gotten updates. I dunno man. We were always “The Washington Wizards bruh” but this feels like rapidly approaching rock bottom. December 15th is I think the first day trades can be made. They need to go ahead and do that. Maybe even pull a Al Horford and tell those 3 guys we’re prioritizing the development of the youngins.
Yesss! The return of the Littens! They’re so cute!
You nailed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCSJXJWMi3A
Waive Muscala (32) and give Geno his spot.
Dog, Geno deserves a roster spot. I don’t care that he’s 27. Soon as he comes in he gets buckets and makes plays. Definition of an impact player.
Dear Monumental, we DGAF about the inseason tournament
Damn, gettin styled on by Mo Wagner. This sucks, lol
Shamet is MAD. I think he’s gonna have some choice words after the game. Don’t think he’s used to this kinda situation.
Really weird injury there. Think he’ll be okay but he’s probably done for the night considering we’re down by 20 with 8 minutes left in the 4th.
Maybe like Drew said, just the nerve/funny bone thing
Yeah weird he braced himself with his left hand, not his right, but it’s his right that hurts.
Well THAT sucks
Yep, and he needs to be aggressive. Move and get into the offense. Be active. No excuses from previous games.
If Kuz actually wanted to stay (yes I know what he posted), then I’d be for him staying. But he clearly wants to get back to the Lakers and/or a contender and compete for a title. Get him to a team to do that. I still think it’ll wind up being the Lakers. It’s just a matter of what we get back from them. Bron and AD clearly need help lol.
