If my math is right in all these close games a field goal would have given us a win he’s missed! Instead of firing the head coach maybe we start looking for a kicker or at least address this. I’m not counting the block in the Philly game but the 48 yarder. He used to be pretty automatic and it’s slipping lately.

Not this but I was thinking about something the other day how like kicker has got to be one of the toughest positions in sports. There’s 32 teams and only like 15 of them have good kickers. So I’m not going to cut him after a couple bad kicks. He has the talent, maybe it’s just a mental thing which with kicking it’s possible.

We are definitely talking about Bass and ST play in general. There are issues for sure, but I think those ST issues are compounded by other game management issues and errors on offense and defense.

Punting has been an issue recently as well. Punt coverage has been an issue. There are many things to consider.

his current FG% is 78.3, which is pretty bad and well below his career average. not great. in his defense, it looks like he is on pace to attempt more 40+ yarders than he ever has in a single season (he has ALREADY matched his career high in attempts over 50 yards, with 5 games left in the season. moreover; he has more attempts of 40+ than <40). he is 10 of 11 <40, 8 of 12 >40. it looks like the issue more what he is being asked to do than his general accuracy. longer kicks = lower success rate. certainly a couple of those misses could have changed the outcome of a couple games (the block in the philly game, his only miss under 40 yards this season, for one) but, and correct me if i’m wrong, none of these were ‘game winning’ attempts. do we want better, of course. i would prefer our offense not stall at the opponents 35. Joe Brady, hopefully, has put an end to that BS!

I’m a softie. The poor kicker never has to come on the field for a field goal unless the rest of the team failed at their job and then it’s ALL ON THEM. I felt so sorry for Tyler on Sunday–I am sure he’ll punish himself horribly.

As to the misses–terrible conditions, a little slip . . . I just feel sad for him.

I know, I keep forgetting he missed two. If he had just made one of those kicks, we win that game. Brutal. He used to be so clutch. I don’t know what’s happened with him :/

whoa whoa whoa how short is your memory?? Bass is and has been an excellent kicker, one of the best in the league for a few years now. 18/23 includes blocked field goals, we can’t blame Bass for excellent defensive play.

His regression I’d put more on the ST coaching. Our ST outside of a play or two a year has been awful since Smiley was hired
