Personally, I’d make it an iron-clad rule for just about all board-members (including CEOs and various shareholders) to get familiar with the product they’re selling (actually playing it) or they’d have to find work elsewhere.

Stop assuming all your players are dumb. Don’t be afraid to implement deep skill trees, dual class systems, etc., in RPGs especially. I want a character who does some things, not all of the things.
