I’m sure I wasn’t the only NBA fan who was surprised to see that Mark Cuban is selling his controlling stake in the Mavs to Miriam Adelson. Some news coming out now that part of the deal is an expectation that they will embark together on a big real estate development along with a new arena for the Mavs. Elsewhere OKC are voting on a new arena for the Thunder and the Clippers are moving into a new arena next season.

Moda Center is currently the 7th oldest arena in the NBA. How do folks feel about the state of the arena? I’m personally a guy who is opposed to building a new stadium if the current one is adequate or better, and it doesn’t feel to me that the Moda is 30 years old (which it nearly is). That might just be me getting old.

I am guessing that when Jody sells the team a new arena might be part of the new owner’s list of wishes. I know that part of Phil Knight’s desire to buy the team was to develop the Rose Quarter. Curious how other fans feel about this.

Look at some of the recent renovations - Utah, Phoenix, Atlanta…. We don’t need a new building. They have plans to renovate. These things always take time.
