Source - https://theathletic.com/5008566/2023/10/30/ausar-thompson-film-study/. I always wondered if they actually had Ausuar higher than Amen and this confirms it. Ausar is the better fit but almost all media boards (grain of salt) except for Kevin O’Connor at the Ringer had Amen higher.

Ausar seemed like the better fit and still does 3 days in. Very interesting that he might have gone as high as 3 as the quote implies.

I think Detroit drafts Scoot at 3, then trades back to get Ausar in that scenario.

      Could be wrong, though.

Honestly they say this about all their rookies. I wouldn’t buy it 100%, could just be a way to hype their players up

I tend to agree but with this one if you’re talking about the Pistons’ personal draft board, I could see this being the case. I don’t agree with it but if they were strictly in a draft for fit mindset you could see them favoring Ausar over his brother and Scoot. Brandon Miller had/has his doubters and though I don’t personally know Brandon Miller, the legal headlines he received in college along with Ausar’s glowing personality reviews does align with the “drafting people first” philosophy.

I can see him being higher than Miller, especially if they were also taking the fatal drive-by shooting situation into account

Like I know he got cleared, but c’mon man. It’s seems unbelievable that he had no idea he was about to be the driver for a premeditated murder
