Hey all,

Weekend warrior player here. I’ve played league on and off for 10 years and spent close to $600 on skins last time I checked. I’m not good at the game, and I know it, but I try my best to win whenever I play.

Yesterday I played a game and messed up on a level 2 all in from a Sylas because I wasn’t expecting it. I got flamed relentlessly. I immediately apologized to my team saying how I wasn’t familiar with the matchup, and will try to play safe. That didn’t stop people typing in chat how terrible I am, or that I should uninstall and stop playing.

Not the first time I’ve heard this, and i know it won’t be the last. If you like playing league, you shouldn’t be mean to your teammates/enemy players. Flaming and bashing people when they want to play the game will get them to leave the game, and eventually the game will die. If we want league to continue to be a game we can all play we should try and make it better. The mindset of people saying “it’s an online game of course it’s toxic” needs to stop if we want it to grow. Couldn’t we be the bastion of nice gaming on the internet?

The flaming and harassing/insulting your partners should be bannable, but inting on 1/7 10min of a match should be illegal. If you die 1 is ok, twice your learning, but 7 times or 10times in lane phase? Before mid game started? You know you can practice your new champ against IA or normal matchmaking.

Anyway, if it is not your case, mute them, all we make mistakes and we are learning. But if you are inting, you should be punished aswell not by harassing, but by a cooldown from rankeds. But I mean “inting” not dying 1 or 2 times by mistake.

I would be nicer if people were nicer with me in game or at least play good. But every DAY i find this kind of people:

    *Trolls and flamers

*People who use normals and rankeds as practice tool. And no, normals aren’t for practicing, Practice tool was implemented for a reason.

*People who only play to “test” a skin. As if the skin gave them superpowers or skill.

*people with “it’s just a game chill” or “i don’t care if i win or lose” mindset but when you ff suddenly the game matters.

*people who don’t know that others like winning and have fun winning.

The day these ppl stop playing or start changing for the better, the game will improve. And no, acting like a doormat won’t change them. In fact, they would become worse, because they will believe their actions are good.

I have recently been letting teammates know that I mute all so that I can focus on the game and ask them to please understand. It’s nice just being able to play the game without all the distractions

I go by the logic: Riot will HAVE to do something to stop soft inting and trollers if we keep flaming eachother so much or the game will die. As long as Riot doesnt do anything about this I will assume the game is doing fine.

To clarify, I mean flame the clearly trolling 0/0/0 200cs at 20 min jungler, the 2nd turret splitpushing toplaner when our nexus is open and he is slow pushing waves ignoring the entire team, the 0/14 at minute 10 inter who is clearly not trying to win it anymore and just insta-engages and so on. Not someone who does a mistake here and there. But someone who actively chooses to ruin the game

Yeah telling people to uninstall is a quick way to kill a game. Those players should be forced to uninstall by Riot through an IP ban because they’re likely going to say the same thing to other players and drag down the quality of players in the game.

I keep everyone muted and then am surprised to receive feedback reports from other people that reported someone that was toxic

The best is when you get that 1 Emerald guy who thinks their topdog in a game full of Silver players. Bro, we have the same MMR, you can stop it with the name calling and flaming.

I see what you’re saying about being nice but the truth is Riot doesn’t care if you’re nice, the don’t reward good behavior so until they do, its /mute all for me.

My first time playing ranked was so traumatic honestly. Everyone pinged me and flamed me to death. I honestly tried and eventually almost cried because I felt so bad. Since then I’m never playing ranked ever again. My friends tried to make me play more ranked but it really makes me anxious and I play even worse

Kinda seems a little crazy you get flamed for dying once in an early 1v1?

Don’t get me wrong the game is toxic asf but I can’t recall in recent memory anyone flamed for giving first blood unless than face checked an invade or something.
