$30/yr for 4 yrs is too much for the Knicks to pay but someone might offer that. $25/yr is a lot to pay but I’m pretty sure he’s going to get offered at least that much ( assuming he continues at his current pace or better) .
So the real question is how much over $25 should Rose drop on him, if need be? $26? $27?
I think the question is what team out there is paying him 30M?
Toronto San Antonio + any team that needs a starting pg who plays defense. Not saying he gets it but it’s definitely possible. He’s certainly getting $25 or better.
this is exactly the number i’ve been saying IQ would go after
so many value-geeks in this sub want to act like we can keep him on a steal
not gonna happen. we either pay IQ $30+/yr and roll with a 5 guard rotation, or we trade him
time to face the music
Let’s put it this way- whatever he gets offered outside of NY is what he will be worth.
If it is 25 or 30, so be it. We can match it thanks to birds rights, and we can go over the cap if needed without heavy ramifications.
If we do not re-sign him, I will consider it a war crime.
20 is a good number for IQ.
I think if we really do go after a true #1 like everyone wants, a quickley sign and trade is probably part of it
Kinda hoping he gets used as a sign and trade for Mikal or OG this summer. We need an elite defensive wing on this team.

I LOVE IQ. But I don’t think Knicks can retain him unless Thibs is willing to start him. He wants to start. He wants 100m+.
I think they should do it. He’s a winner. But that leaves challenges. RJ or Grimes might have to go, the second unit will not be as good and if the Knicks are still “star hunting” that gets a little trickier.
