Think about it, rito doesn’t want to add voice chat because of concerns about harassment and them not being able moderate it as effectively. Speech to text will be a good alternative. Sure it will be inferior to actual voice chat, but beats typing in chat especially in teamfights.

How will it work? Press a key, say what you want, and it will get transcribed in the typing area of chat, then press the key again to send. Since it works the same as regular old chat rito can moderate everything the same way. It beats typing in the middle of teamfights or hectic situations.

As I was thinking about this I was wondering why not also add speech to speech. It takes this process one step further. The transcribed chat (or even the non transcribed) then can be read aloud and it will be like you have voice chat without actually having voice chat. Of course this will be an opt-in feature as some might just prefer reading. Maybe you don’t notice chat in hectic situations or maybe just don’t want to read. This might be a good qol feature for those ppl.

Good idea actually, I like it.

Fails on technological level since voice rec is trash, especially when it comes to non-textbook words, but that should be fixable with some AI power in the near future.
