I have a milestone birthday coming up and have just begun the recon mission on finding a piece that will complement, but not directly compete with anything I currently have. Not into overly dressy or rectangular watches. 39-43mm range under $10k. No Rolex, I’ve had a few and I didn’t like the attention they got. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Dream collection here. I want a Speedmaster and a Seamaster 300 for my collection.
I don’t have a bad word to say about either. Both so amazing.
How dress or causal can a Seamaster 300 be? I’m talking the one next to your Aqua Terra. I plan to get both over a two year period as I’m not the wealthiest man but I wanna have something that I can use in a suit if need be.
The bracelet tapers nicely, it looks great on a tan, black, or brown leather. Totally suitable for casual or (mildly) dressy. It’s such a good watch, you would not be disappointed.
Zenith El Primero would like great next to all of those and would be a subtle but welcomed splash of solid
JLC master control
I think a Glashütte Original panomaticlunar m would be a nice fit
If you don’t want a Rolex I would say go for a Tudor Blackbay or a Pelagos. If you want something more dressy I would say a Cartier Santos.
Perfect collection imo but I would add a Submariner if you ever have a change of heart.
Had a 114060. Didn’t like the attention or how I felt wearing a Rolex. Traded down for the 300 and cash. BB 41 Burgundy may be different enough? Hard to come by though
I would add a luxury dress watch that isn’t your typical like Rolex. 😜
Breitling Datora (but had to be pre-owned to meet budget). Something that is abit of fun, colour or quirky like the Tag Skipper or even a Heuer Monaco which will add colour and variety of case shape.
If you want to go completely off check out Glashutte Original sixties or seventies annual editions which have some wild dial colours such as green, orange, ice blue or yellow. If my wrist allowed it I’d have a seventies in a heartbeat!
F91W
NATOs.
Zenith El Primero Sport. Or possibly the Chonomaster Original…38mm but wears larger. Recently picked up the Original myself and it’s an amazing piece.
Lots of Zenith recs here, I need to try some on. Thank you!
A dress watch would be nice.
+1 for a Grand Seiko
you have preferred aesthetic that’s for sure.
Have you heard of this thing called “leather”?
I play…guessing its not your thing. In all seriousness, 3 of your watches look very similar from a distance. Get some colour in there…some complications.
Ya they all have leather/rubber/nato options too. Today was just for the photo. I feel like a bezel and a Chronograph and that GMT is all the complications I want. You suggest something like a moonphase or something?
Something from Alain Silberstein would add a welcome touch of levity to this otherwise quite staid collection.
