If you’re reading this, you either already knew or have now learned that we signed Leonard Fournette to a practice squad contract. That likely means he’s gonna be elevated to the roster either next week or the week after. That likely means a few things, one, Damien Harris is done for the year. Its sad but if they’re signing Fournette, that’s that. Two, it means there’s a question at RB2.
On the one hand you have Latavius Murray, at 33 he’s the oldest active rb in the league. He’s rushed for 143 yards, 2 TDs, and 3.6 yards per attempt this season. Then there’s Leonard Fournette, he’s 28 year old, he was cut from a decent-sized contract in Tampa last season after 668 yards, 3 TDs, 3.5 yards per attempt finish last season, and he’s remained a free agent until now.
If you think there’s a trend in those stats, you’re not wrong, these guys are both washed. I’m not trying to be a hater, I don’t think the Fournette signing was a bad move, but these two guys are just not that good anymore. However, with Cook at RB1, someone among those two is gonna get more touches than the other, someone’s gonna be the “RB2” (even though both will probably see the field). In light of this, who do you think should be the RB2?
Murray has been a massive asset blocking. Is Leonard any good here?
Think of all the complaining we’ve done since Allen started about the lack of a true goal line, 3rd and 1 back. Fournette = goal line back
