Disappointing that M3 still maxes out at 24GB.
I want a fanless 32GB Mac. I don’t need the extra CPU power consumption from M3 Pro just to go above 24GB.
I was expecting much more 😅
I thought that we will get the dynamic island, a new design, and maybe even wifi 7, or something unique… I guess Apple didn’t have a good year and decided to get rid of all the chassis, by just replacing the chips, etc… no one needs extra 100nits SDR brightness, it’s already good enough on my M2 Max 16" Macbook Pro.
I find it weird that now the memory bandwidth is 50GB/s less than the last M2 Pro models.
as an Intel guy…can’t wait for this.
My post processing has been ass slow for years but I tolerated it. Wooohoooo
I need some advice from someone who’s more knowledgeable than me.
I am on 2019 intel macbook and I have been planning on an upgrade for awhile now. I am not too fussed on the “latest and greatest” since what I really want is just long battery life.
My normal use for a macbook is graphics design, web development/coding, illustrator, etc. And 20-30 tabs opened on Google Chrome at any given time.
I know for a fact that any spec on the M-series line up can handle what I throw at it since my intel can also handle what I am throwing at it right now.
But what I really want to know is if anybody knows if the M2 and M3, whichever is better, can play some games like World of Tanks and World of Warships? I have recently broken my gaming PC, so my macbook is the only working machine in the house and I have been stuck not being able to play any games now. I am thinking this overdue upgrade might be a good opportunity to turn me into 1-laptop-rules-all kind of deal.
Any thoughts of M2 vs M3 comparison in relation to World of Tanks etc.?
Still 8gb ram on the $1599 14” 😭
Have Apple deliberately nerfed M3 Pro?
From Apple’s slides:
M3 = 35% faster CPU than M1; 20% faster than M2
M3 Pro = 20% faster CPU than M1 Pro; ??% faster than M2 Pro - No comparison shown, I wonder why?
M3 Max = 80% faster than M1 Max; 50% faster than M2 Max
When Apple announced the M2 Pro they claimed it was 20% faster than M1 Pro. So are we to assume M3 Pro has no performance improvement this gen?
They’ve reduced the number of performance cores from eight to six, and memory bandwidth at 150GB/sec is lower than the 200GB/sec of the M1 Pro.
I’m curious why they would only include AV1 decode and not encode. Considering that creatives are supposed to be a significant part of their target audience, I would’ve assumed that AV1 hardware encode would’ve been pretty valuable.
