In this scenario, we likely get salary filler or a TPE attached to maybe a few draft swaps, a late first, or a handful of seconds. If we are lucky maybe we get a raw prospect. Gafford is a microwave player, but not the longterm solution for any team at big. His optimal role would be off the bench for a contender providing energy, rim-protection, and rim-running in spurts. Kinda like a worse Javale McGee.
I like Eugene but he’s like an extreme discount version of PJ Tucker. He’s there to eat up garbage time minutes, but he’s older that Gafford and small for his position. Not really a guy you want to focus on.
Realistically age doesn’t matter. Neither Gafford or Eugene should be long term centers for us. If we want an older big it should ideally be a great pick setter and locker room guy.
