This trade works for both parties. We got the depth we have been looking for since the process days and the clippers get the stars (Harden, Westbrook) to carry them thru to the playoffs.
Powell would have been nice, Mann would have been nice, but we got players that fit the style Nick Nurse is trying to establish. DHOs out the wazzu with the wings we got.
I just don’t get it so hopefully someone can explain how this doesn’t help our win now mentality.
Think most people like the deal. 2 1sts is perfect.
Especially that 2028 1st being unprotected
Look at the thread for both NBA and the sixers sub on the initial Harden deal from Woj, way too many people are saying that we got nothing back for harden.
These pieces are not exactly good for playing basketball. They’re good for trading as filler or being off the books next year to sign people we actually want.
I do think the trade is good as long as we can use these players and picks trade for better players at the deadline
- Offloaded Harden without taking on any long term contracts
- Received 2 First Round Picks
- Added 4 decent rotational players
- Added a couple second rounders and a pick swap for good measure
- Got rid of that dumb PJ Tucker contract
Is this a homerun? No. But it’s a solid double into the gap.
If Maxey can continue his ascendance then the Sixers can compete for a chip this season. There’s also plenty of ammunition for a deadline trade as well as $60 million in cap space to play with.
Harden is a 34-year-old team cancer. The fact that the Sixers managed to offload him while keeping the window alive and well for Embiid is nothing short of a miracle.
That being said, a lot of this falls on Maxey. Let’s hope his start is for real.
We definitely didn’t add 4 good rotation guys but I mostly agree
What u/biggulpshuh_alright meant to say was three traditional rotation players. The fourth rotation player is being able to avoid Marcus Morris attacking Embiid when they play the Clippers.
I think a lot of people are overlooking another positive that came out of this trade - the Sixers no longer have to worry about Marcus Morris inevitably attacking Embiid when the Sixers play the Clippers.
There are a lottttt of holdover Harden Stan’s who are gonna be the last to admit he sucks
