It’s always him was rumored to be traded ever since he requested a trade at the start of training camp and he’s been a non-factor thus far. Did nobody offer a low draft pick for a former 1st round pick?

Contrary to popular belief, he contributes. Just not in pass rush. He’s a decent DE against the run, and has been throughout his time here.

The fact you have to use “former 1st round pick” as the best qualifier for a guy who’s been in the league 8 years should tell you something…

He doesn’t deserve the “former 1st round pick” designation anymore. He’s on a backup DE contract because he’s a backup DE, and he plays well enough for one, particularly against the run. Our DL is good enough that having him around as depth makes more sense than giving him away for a day 3 pick.

I agree to an extent his fit here doesn’t seem great desai asks edges to pay in space, especially on run downs with a 5-man front. I think that it is very difficult to trade a player who has not been particularly productive since an injury. It’s also worth noting that no one offered him a better contract in the off-season and so anyone who traded for him would have to pay him. I do think he could be more productive on a team that bases our of a 4 3 and does run many stunts but they would be taking a risk to pay him and give up other assets.
