We are a nation of rules and the rules are boring. Embrace that. In times of difficulty, go with the boring option. When faced with a frightening crisis, tamp it down with ultra-boring moves. No matter what, stick with the rules.

I can’t avoid talking about Donald Trump but I’m going to make it brief. I know you don’t like him; neither do I. But let’s assume he’s only a politician. He’s not Hitler, Godzilla or the Beast of the Apocalypse—just a guy with a loud mouth and a desperate need for attention. Most Americans think of him that way.

This is not about him. It’s about you.

Let’s not assume he’s “only” a politician since he incited an insurrection directly against the most salient Democratic process in the country, committed electoral fraud, declared ethnic bans, and had expressed admiration for dictators and explicitly has stated his intention to be a dictator.

He isn’t " just some guy", he’s a piece of s*** wannabe dictator with terrible domestic and even worse foreign policies. Or maybe terrible foeign and even worse domestic policies.

You sound triggered and emotional. I’m no Trump fan but the moral outrage drama surrounding him is just as excessive as he is himself

The outrage against trump is a perfectly justified and measured response to his behavior and stated intentions.

Trump is a rapist, he directly tried to commit electoral fraud more than once, he convinced others to forge election documents, without even touching his awful policies.

Nobody cares if you are a “trump fan”, giving Trump another chance is a vote in support of rape. You’re giving direct electoral fraud and the attack on American representative democracy another chance.

No, being upset that millions of people support rape and electoral fraud is not excessive, it is perfectly rational.

          Trump is a rapist

Do what? He has never been convicted of rape.

I would ask for a cite but I know you can’t find one for that.

In the article titled “Judge clarifies: Yes, Trump was found to have raped E. Jean Carroll”, the judge who presided over that case states in an interview:

“The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape,’ ” Kaplan wrote.

He added: “Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.”

I know you’re just trying to be disingenuous and really find a way to support rape and excuse a rapist, but it’s not going to work.

There was evidence, trump was found liable for rape, and he’s paying a civil settlement for committing rape.

The judge is wrong. A civil trial cannot determine a criminal crime. Sounds like when this is appealed, this is a good ground to have the case overturned.

The jury said she was not raped and to me, that is the end of the discussion.

I agree with the jury. Guess you don’t like our legal system since you think the jury is wrong.

When you demonize those who disagree with you, you invite treatment in kind.

That’s funny, because people around here have used the r slur against me multiple times despite me never using it.

And statements like this fail to understand that there is often legitimate reason to demonize someone you disagree with. For instance, overthrowing democracy in Germany got Hitler demonize, and rightfully so. You don’t get to get off scott free from criminal allegations just because of some hope of playing nice in politics.

I’m aware you will. But that’s not the point I was trying to get across.

My point is that this writer is saying “you get treated how you treat others, so democrats don’t be rude”, but no matter what I do I am met with insult.

Its vulgar, sure, but imo not really a reason to do much of anything about. And Im not a lord or leader or a fuhrer. I’m a random guy who made a community and started posting stuff. That’s what I am.

I mean, I won’t call you a N-word (not the racist one, the one synonymous with conservatives) loving hypocrite, but since you’re down for Hitler—apparently there is a difference—I’ll stick to that.

He’s not Hitler, Godzilla or the Beast of the Apocalypse—just a guy with a loud mouth and a desperate need for attention

I do think this is true.

For some reason many people bought into Trump is an Uber conservative. He’s not. Why I was pleased with her performance. His policies were a mix of Republican and democrat policies. My trans friend says Trump is anti trans. He’s so anti trans he told Jenner she can use anyone bathroom she wants. Shudder. Trump has a lot of good policies but it’s his mouth that screws things up

He’s so anti trans he told Jenner she can use anyone bathroom she wants.

I don’t think that reflects the politically strategic demonization of trans people that is so critical to the Republican brand.

Specific trans-folk, particularly rich ones, are more than likely to be on Trump’s side. And if he is indeed some guy with a desperate need for attention, then once he gets it, it’s fine, Jenner can use whatever bathroom she wants.
