“Every team has a different plight, every team is in a different place, different direction, different phase in their team building.”

“ We have a plan in place that we don’t want to alter, we don’t want to mess with that,”

At 6-2, ya know what that means….

Yeah. But…if we got Chase for a 3rd and he didn’t sign a contract with us, we would get a compensatory pick back. Basically a free DE who is playing well to try and put us over the top. It’s not like we were giving up first rounders or mortgaging our future away.

Exactly this. They had a plan and a vision from the start and each year that plan has produced results.

Year 1: Fans expected to just look competitive and win 3-4 games. Check

Year 2: Most expected the Lions to double their wins to 6 and get better. They exceeded expectations and got 9 wins and talent development was huge. Check

Year 3: Most fans at the beginning of the season expected the Lions to win the division and win a playoff game. They are well on their way to win the division and potentially win a playoff game.

They have stuck to their plan and are producing. Hell even when it was hard at 1-6, Shiela stuck with it.

However, many people think this has to be the year we go all in because of the schedule and because Ben Johnson is here. If you believe in this regime, you should believe in their ability to replace coaches and players because that is what the top sustainable organizations have done. Good regimes can weather the storm of losing coaches & players and can face tougher schedules. They are sticking to what they want to do and its working.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but playing devils advocate.

Good teams go from first to worst in 1 year all the time.

      Other contenders made big splashes.

Who knows when we will ever start 6-2 again? (You think in the years to come, but it’s the NFL, it’s not that easy)

I would be very upset if we make it to the playoffs just to lose in the first round because our pass D can’t help out. It would be a lost and disappointing season for sure.

And I honestly am not going to blindly trust GMs on every single decision. I think it’s weird to agree 100% of the time with a decision. We should be able to disagree but still like what’s happened so far.

Even the best GMs in the world make bad decisions sometimes

Green Bay, Chicago will both improve by next years time and will want to try and take our nfc north spot. Guaranteed.

Like I said I do agree with most of what you said but you also have to understand. We should be doing our best to try and get a number 1 seed. If we can’t handle Lamar and geno smith, what’s going to happen when we go against somebody with geno smiths skill level in the playoffs? They will pass for over 300+ yards against us like they did in previous games.

Love the lions and root for them. I just think it’s something fans should think about. Or at least acknowledge.

The league is designed for teams to not stay in first for long. From the way the draft works to the schedule. Playing a first place schedule is no joke and you slide capitalize on an easier schedule while you can.

I trust Brad’s overall vision but anyone saying moving a pick especially not a first rounder is “mortgaging the future” is just dumb. Even the best teams waste draft picks all the time, look at 49ers they traded 3 1sts for a QB they essentially cut 2 years later. Trading away a second round pick should have absolutely no long term impact on a team, if it does there are bigger issues as there is like a 40% chance that player picked there is a bust anyway

The goal is to win a playoff game. We haven’t won a playoff game since 93. Our team is good enough to win a playoff game or two. Getting one more defensive player wasn’t going to win us a Super Bowl. Our team is not ready to win a super bowl. And tbh I just don’t think big name players want to come here yet.

No it’s not. You and other fans are delulu. You really expected the LiOns to win the Superbowl after nit making the playoffs last year and having not won a playoff game since 91? Lmao tf are yall on. This is a rebuild we don’t have the horses to contend YET…. We have been getting some through the draft though…

I think their (Brad and Dan) explanation of why they didn’t grab any other players made complete sense. Turned my opinion around about it.
