We need to see Kai at CF more often. He’s a lighthouse to aim at, the frequency at which we can just hit long balls at him as an outlet is unbelievably useful when we’re struggling to play through a press on the ground.

Jesus lost almost every contest against Silva and Colwill. Its admiral how such a small 9 competes physically, he’s disproportionately strong relative to his size. But he still has to battle so hard to win those contests only at a low frequency. Kai just nonchalantly wins these repeatedly without breaking a sweat.

how many top attacking midfielders in the past 20 years have been as tall as kai? closest i can think of is laudrup at 6’2, he cant fit into the midfield (almost literally) but there are for sure plenty of world class strikers that tall (like the norweigan par example)

his growth has inatvertedley made him into a cf prospect

Definitely getting Poch’s Spurs vibe from Chelsea’s press, very impressive

So… if Saliba’s “handball” was a penalty, shouldn’t there have been a card shown? US broadcasters said that VAR told the ref that Mudryk’s header was heading on target, it wasn’t, but if that were the case shouldn’t that be a red card? I feel like they gave the penalty just to give the penalty. I’ve never been one to be stirred up by poor reffing decisions but with the Kovacic situation and now this last game that should’ve, imo, warranted at least one red card, I can’t help but feel genuinely pissed off.

Thomas Partey’s significance to Arsenal cannot be understated. His ability to resist press, coupled with his world-class progressive passes and mostly elite positioning, highlight why he’s among the best in his position globally. A major reason for our recent underperformance is the absence of such a quality number 6.

Now, besides the fact that the had that obvious black cloud over his head, another reason why I wanted him shipped out was because you just can’t rely on him to finish a full season. While we’re fortunate to have Rice and remain undefeated against the top 6 in Partey’s absence, it’s becoming clear we need to start thinking of a long-term replacement. Some friends and I even discussed an unconventional plan: hoping for Partey to sustain an injury by late November, miss AFCON in January, and then recover by March. That’s a crazy way to plan a season.

How has Ajax fallen so hard? From one of Europe’s best teams to being close to relegation, that’s a MASSIVE downfall especially for a club with one of the best academies of all time

Probably won’t win the title and yesterday was a shit performance but you can see how Arteta has transformed the team and the mentality of the players. That was a prime Real Madrid come back. All the best teams can turn it on at will, we did that yesterday. That is why we are where we are and why only Man City and maybe Liverpool can compete with us

Why doesn’t Moyes start Kudus ? He’s been brilliant for them whenever he plays.

Some points I took from last night:

    1. Trossard is most effective as a super sub. He’s absolutely lethal coming on and running and driving against leggy and tiring defences. He just doesn’t seem to have that same destructive capability when starting.

2a) As much as I love Jorginho, he can’t start games anymore when we have other options. He’s a great option when we’re defending a narrow lead and need to see a game out and take the sting out of the opposition attack. But when we need to attack he’s just too slow and safe. Always slowing down our attack and passing backwards whereas Partey makes those risky, line splitting passes that allow our forward players to create chances.

2b) Havertz, despite only playing 12 minutes, won more aerial duels than any other Arsenal player. Love him or hate him at the moment, he brings a dimension to our midfield that is missing without Partey. Our starting midfield should either be Rice/Havertz/Ødegaard or Partey/Rice/Ødegaard. We’re just so much better going forward as opposed to when Jorginho starts.

    1. I think Zinchenko and Tomiyasu need to be rotated more often based on the opponents we face, at least until Timber is fit. Zinchenko does a lot for our attack in the early stages of matches, but is often a defensive liability. I think he’s good against sides that we can expect to limit to few chances over 90 mins but Tomi is that guy when were expected to do more defensive work. He also adds much more of an aerial presence across all areas of the pitch.

    2. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Rammers start against Sevilla. As confident and assured as Raya looked in his first couple of games, that’s probably 3 or 4 poor performances on the spin from him and you can see in his face he’s starting to look short on confidence. His passing might be ridiculous but we cant sacrifice stability in between the posts for it.

    3. Declan Rice is world class.

Ajax on the ropes, might be a great option for a FM25 save.

I can’t wait for Partey to return fully fit and we get a Partey-Rice-Odegaard midfield again.

Am I the only who thinks no one is undroppable? Obviously if it’s one or two matches that’s fine, but if you’re not playing to standard you can sit on the bench for a while and that’s okay. Isn’t that the point of competition?

As much as it pains me to say yesterday’s performance was bad and part of the credit to Chelsea. Their finishing was non-existent and the goals were eh so may not be a threat but they did do well to neutralize us. A lot of our poor performances were due to our own fault but yesterday was different imo
