Man fuck Embracer. That’s the entirety of Volition, the entirety of Free Radical and their time splitter game, and now this too?
Embracer is killing off so much old blood. It’s like ea during the early 2000s.
I never asked for this…
It’s like EA, but Embracer is just speedrunning being EA. Fuck Embracer.
EA is a bad videogame company. Embracer is a bad investment fund of the same caliber of the investment funds ruining everything else in the world. They are not even in the same league of fucked up.
Greed destroying the world, one place at a time.
Being owned my Embracer must feel like a death sentence at this point. I mean even if your studio has been spared cuts or closures so far how safe can you really feel with the higher-ups desperately throwing everyone overboard to stop the ship from going under.
To be blunt, if the owner sets the company up for sale, all the seniors in the company start sending out resumes. Always, always villainize the owner(s) who did the selling.
Fuck. I didn’t even know they were working on a new DX game. Got my hopes up and smashed them in one sentence.
Of course it’s embracer group, they’re probably embracing for bankruptcy because they don’t have much of a future
They can’t shake off the thq curse
I hope nightdive remakes the original games and that it doesn’t take 10 years.
Cross your fingers for that one maniac doing a VR version that still looks properly janky.
I never asked for this…
Fuck.
At this point, start forming co-ops within your game studio. If you and five hundred of your closest friends get fired you can start fundraising for the new studio you’re suddenly part of.
Money is the only thing you’ll be missing. It’s not like there’s a factory.
Thats actually what I hope will happen at some point.
CUNTS.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Embracer Group, the company attempting to forge one video game publisher to rule them all, has just presided over another round of layoffs.
“The global economic context, the challenges of our industry and the comprehensive restructuring announced by Embracer have finally impacted our studio,” wrote Eidos Montreal.
Embracer snapped up both Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics from Square Enix in May 2022, putting the studios behind Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Thief under one umbrella.
It’s been eight years since Deus Ex: Mankind Divided ended on a largely unsatisfying cliffhanger, and it doesn’t sound like we’re going to get a resolution anytime soon.
What’s more, Embracer decided to erase the mobile game Deus Ex Go from existence, ripping it away from people who’d already paid, though I hear it may still be playable if you have it downloaded.
Since Embracer’s 2022 buying spree, it has also shut down TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design, closed Saints Row developer Volition, and has reportedly been looking to sell Borderlands maker Gearbox.

I would seriously fund a kickstarter of former eidos employees to make a spiritual successor
