Just beat the Heat and I’m ready to overreact baby.
We obviously have a lack of a superstar level player, Cam Thomas and Mikal Bridges are both great offensively but not quite a championship level number 1 option I think we can all agree.
But the depth on this team is a pisstake.
Simmons/Spencer/Dennis Smith Jr
Cam Thomas/Lonnie Walker/Armoni Brooks
Mikal/Royce
Cam Johnson/DFS/Watford
Claxton/Sharpe/Giles
If JV can put together some clever rotations there is absolutely no reason we shouldn’t be a playoff team.
And with a little luck we might even win a playoff game this season :)))
Yes, the Nets are a deep team, perhaps too deep as we want to divide up the minutes to get everyone involved. Injuries will happen so having depth allows others to come in and the team performance not to fall off.
However, we really are missing a point guard. Ben can lead us in transition but is less effective in half court. Dinwiddie is best as a secondary handler but the Nets best line up will be with one of those two on the bench.
Claxton and Simmons can play together - not heavy minutes but the issue is Simmons on a max contract.
We are a deep team and we have Dariq and Clowney still to come up from the G League.
Would love to see Dinwiddie, DFS and Royce be showcased to try and get teams to give up a first round pick for them. They can all contribute to contending teams.
If we were to make a trade I’d like to see OG considered if the Raptors decide they need to go in a different direction.
Brandon Ingram is the guy I want but I think the Pelicans are gonna want to hold onto him.
Build through the draft. We have an excellent talent evaluator in Sean Marks and we should be adding to our young core. Target a player in the upcoming draft, not top 3 but maybe top 10 and trade up to get him. Develop the player and we have another player likely of starting calibre.
