This isn’t even about the booing (I don’t boo my own team) but about the value of bringing Malik in a few times per game. I noticed it on his run in the second half. If you watch the sideline, you can see that Levis is getting some intense coaching during that play. My guess is the reason Levis hasn’t played much thus far is that he’s still growing into the playbook, and it seems like they’re using Malik to give themselves a minute to explain to Levis what they’re seeing on the drive and how he needs to react. That will probably decrease as Levis gets a better command of the offense, but it seems like a good use of both guys. (I like Malik as a person so I hope he can develop into a career backup for someone, even if it’s not us, but having two cheap QBs would be really good for us the next two years.)

    I dont think that was the point of putting willis in. Levis didn’t look like he was getting overwhelmed or confused. Cant imagine that they had to talk to him right that minute, and if it was that is what time outs are for especially in the first half.

    I still think the only reason they told us they were going to use both qbs and put Malik in a couple times early is that if Levis start making egregious mistakes they could bring out Malik without the optics of benching him.

    At this point I would rather see both qbs in the game if they are stuck with getting Willis some snaps here and there. Im curious if Willis will even be active once Tannehill is back, and if he is, will they count him as a roster spot so they can play him like this or will he be slotted as the emergency qb and be unable to come on the field.

      That is definitely not a good way to use timeouts, regardless of half. Timeouts should be saved til the end of the half to give you a chance to score on a short clock. Using a timeout as a communication break happens, but it’s usually seen as a blunder and a waste of a timeout.

    I’m happy with Willis coming in for a running play when the situation makes sense. First & 10 at mid field? Nah. 1 & goal? Sure, Taysom hill scores plenty and he’s not a great thrower. You just can’t put him in situations where he’s so clearly inferior and needs to run the offense. It undercuts your QB1 and the defense absolutely doesn’t respect it.

    If he got 4-5 carry’s a game and transitioned to gadget guy, I’d be fine with that.
