Remember, the expectation is this team hits less than 30 wins. WE ARE STILL DEVELOPING. That being said, hard lessons need to be taught. Here is why I think Killian is starting over Ivey:
- Killian was a 1st round pick. A great deal of value was spent on him. He has to be given a chance to prove his value. Either he finally steps up and can be a good piece on our team or he can be moved to regain some value. OR, he proves after given the proper chance that he has no value and we move on. Personally, I think that time is now but…
- Cade is being thrown in the fire. With an offensive liability at the 1, Cade is learning to expect a double team. This will be normal since any star player has to be able to get buckets despite multiple defenders. Allow Cade to work in this space for a time. Once he gets someone in the backcourt that can pull the defender, Cade has a much easier game but still knows how to take over if needed. He is only in year 2 folks.
- Ivey has always come across as a humble guy. He is taking a backseat at the moment to allow for team development. He will still get good minutes running that second team. He will develop his defensive skills against other second teams. He learns how to make better decisions. He gives Killian the opportunity to finally prove his worth.
