  • I think it’s clear that the locker room has been lost. The team culture is shot at this point. They don’t think they can win or just don’t want to put in the effort to try.

They looked so promising against the Bulls, lol.

This is certainly a coach issue. He wanted to year off and probably isn’t invested either. Can’t blame Monty he is dealing with grief. Can blame Gores for just throwing money at him.

Seems like the only thing you can do with a team like this is blow it up. Unfortunately the players we have are playing so bad that we aren’t really going to get much for them. And the rebuild is going to be prolonged another 3-4 years.

Sucks. Maybe something is brewing and we will see a shift second half of the season. not looking good though.

  • Weaver has done his job. He has drafted talent. He has made deals to draft more first rounders. He has picked for talent and not fit. That is what you do in a rebuild. Did have misses? Of course. Do we have a young team full of talented players that don’t fit? Yes.

They are trade pieces. But they have not reached their full trade value yet. And we are not going to get all-stars for these players. We have to keep grinding and developing so that these young dudes find their game.

Once they get over a hump, if they do, then we can start attracting all star talent for gaps and we can start drafting for fit. Ideally, some of the guys we already have develop into all-stars first.

If you think we were going to be contending this year you didn’t know anything. Granted the team is vastly underperforming. But Weaver definitely should not be fired for doing what he should be doing.

That being said, he isn’t done. He does need to start making moves to build on the pieces that are showing promise. But again, who are we actually doing to attract to Detroit? The last thing I want him to do is to make a panic trade that sets us back another five years.
