So ive gotten good enough at the game to easily win on prince difficulty finally and ive decided to take a step up to the next highest difficulty, but im having trouble. I figured i should start with trying for a science victory because that’s the most straight forward victory condition. Even with building campuses early on and trying to get as many +3s or higher I’m still in last place (or close to it) in science even 150+ turns into the game.

What civ should I be using? What should be strategy be? How do I “snowball” properly? Should I be war happy early on? What are some good things to keep in mind for city placement? When I’m placing my cities I’m basically just trying to spread by borders out as far as I can to have a lot of land.

I tried using Qin Unifier thinking the convert barb ability would be useful in the early game but I’ve struggled to capitalize on it.

I typically play on continents and islands standard size with 10 civs and 12 city states.

And any all advice is appreciated!
