I feel like Gibbs got a big boost because he was given plenty of opportunity, and guess what, now we know we have one more serious weapon. I want Jamo to get a shot to be the man for a game.

Forcing targets to a player that is under performing is asinine.

Literally everyone else is more reliable right now. JaMo is WR 4 and unless he steps up, DPJ will take his spot.

The issue with Jamo is that he’s had a drop problem thus far. I have high hopes, but it’s not like it’s solely bc he hasn’t had a chance.

Pride of Detroit did a film breakdown on this that was pretty good.

The short of it, Jamo’s not where he’s supposed to be when he’s supposed to be there. All these timing routes that folks want him to get, won’t work until he starts playing better.

As for crossing routes, if he cuts at 8 yards when Goff expects him to cut at 12 yards that’s likely going to be an interception. Jamo has to get better… That’s the answer. Until then he isn’t going to get more touches.

I think the main problem right now with Jamo is how he is schemed. Don’t quote me on this, but we don’t see too many crossers from him, mostly go routes. I’d love to see him run a slant or a mid cross and just hit the open holes in the defense like he did at Bama. If you’re only throwing to him on deep “gos” or giving him the ball on sweeps, it isn’t necessarily hard to game plan for him. But in all honesty, I don’t think he needs 10 targets a game to be effective.

Doing the above on intermediate crossers and he can get a bunch of YAC would be tremendous for this offense, in all honesty

Or lets just focus on winning not trying to feed one guy for confidence reasons.

This isnt some scheme against Jamo. There is a reason why DC & BJ are not targeting him more.

Feedings a WR isn’t the same as feeding a RB. If Jamo is open and it makes sense to throw it his way, do it. Otherwise, Goff just needs to focus on getting the ball to the receiver that’s the most open and has the best chance to gain yards.

Why force it to a guy when others on the team have proven more reliable? I want him to succeed, but unless he gets open and hangs onto the ball, why target him over Saint, Sam, etc?

I completely agree with you. Clearly the Lions made a mistake drafting him as high as they did. Most coaches /GMs can’t admit a mistake. So they try to “make it work”

But what I appreciate about this organization is they realized that they overvalued Jamo and they’ve made other plans. Also they aren’t going to try to force it to Jamo just to prove they made the right draft pick.

Thank you. This is a great way to describe it. There’s a big portion of this sub that feels like you’re attacking Holmes when you aren’t happy with JAMOs production. Holmes can still be great and regret the JAMO pick.

I don’t think they overvalued Jamo, dude has had terrible luck all around. He needs reps… If he’s not going to get them I’m sure he’ll be an All-star somewhere else.

      Counter point.

Some players need some attention like this to help get them acclimated and/or boost their confidence and help them be a bigger impact in the future. If you NEVER do this you run the risk of limiting a highly skilled weapon for the future that we might need for big games.

If there is a defense to do it against it would be this one. They are a great offense and a bad defensive team. We have the ability to move the ball on these guys. If we take a play or two early on to call his number and draw up something special it has the potential to help us in the long term with limited risk in the short term. Also if it works out and JAMO goes off in this game it also helps you win this game.

Seems to me like it is well worth the risk so long as you don’t force it too much and sacrifice the game as a result.

Fr fr. We are a winning team now and winning is top priority. We can’t give Jamo 10 damn targets after he just went 0 for 6 on targets just a couple weeks ago. Im sorry. He needs to prove himself with the opportunities given

Not if it’s going to cost us an opportunity to gain yards or score points elsewhere. This is the NFL, not a charity.

You don’t go into a football game with the goal of giving a player an opportunity or whatever. You go into a football game to put a W on the season.

This isn’t going to happen, and if it did happen, we could lose to a team that we should probably beat. I really wish y’all would shut up about Jameson Williams. Right now, he’s simply awful. If he gets better great, cool. If not, whatever dude we don’t need him.

Things are simple, get open, get ball.

I do point the finger at Ben though. Jamo needs to get the ball in space so he can make plays.

I love Jamo and want him to succeed but he’s going to have to earn his way just like Saint and all the rest. Nobody rides for free. Plus we don’t need to rely on any one guy. That’s not how this team works. Everyone eats and that’s part of the reason our offense is so hard to defend.
