Good share, great read. I like the analysis of how much our secondary is expected to do - and think about - with creative schemes (like the CB blitz). This is our best secondary I can ever think of - and we have a ridiculous LB group and solid line as well. What a time to be a Chiefs fan!
I can’t wait for us to get our O in gear. I won’t be surprised if we become a run-heavy team in the second half of the year.
Considering this is the youngest defense in the league, it’s only going to get better. We may have a situation at some point where Patrick Mahomes just has to match the productivity of Trent Fucking Dilfer to win Superbowls lol.
True Story: In the locker room after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, I overheard two rookie defenders laughing about how they won the Super Bowl without understanding their own defense, and how good they’ll be when they actually learn it.
I feel like there’s a lot of angst from Chiefs fans about the offense, as if we’re the same team from 2018 that had to outscore everyone. This defense is good enough that 25 points per game would’ve made us 9-0 at the bye. I’m not worried. We will figure out how to win, with a defense this dominant, at all three levels.
