Good job Charles
Chuck is so god damn based it’s unfair to the rest of us
spoken like a lawyer. great non-answer. in the meantime. bridges keeps working out with the team.
Common sir Charles W.
Charles: so what are we going to do to stop this and take a stand?
Adam: yes
Does anyone know how the NBA’s domestic violence frequency compares with that of comparably high earners? I remember that being brought up in response to the NFL’s consistently high domestic violence rates which are actually more or less in line with the average for people with comparable earnings.
I.e. this is a rich asshole thing, not an aggressive athlete thing. Posturing like athletes are disproportionately committing domestic violence is a disingenuous portrayal of the issue imo.
it’s hard to do something about isn’t it? in many of these cases, we kind of know what happened, but if the accuser takes the accusation back, what can you really do
What are they gonna do, fire him? Huge respect to Chuck for using his platform/legacy to speak out about this stuff, its easy to forget after all his goofiness but the dude is always batting for the right side on these things.
Credit to Chuck for the question, and predictable PR fluff garbage from Silver. It’s gonna take more PR embarrassment to force more out of Silver on this but there unfortunately just isn’t a ton he can do.
He can place guys on the commissioners exemption list while allegations are ongoing…that hasn’t even happened with Bridges. He’s set to play in a few weeks. The player’s association will only allow for so much. Bridges sat out in conjunction with the player’s association allowing it and not filing a grievance.
Barkley is right and props to him for asking this question but the recent case with Trevor Bauer is a reminder that the league can’t be judge, jury and executioner. I think in the case of Bridges and especially KPJ, the evidence is quite clear but people were calling for Trevor Bauer’s head as well when his accuser came out with her “evidence”. This new age social media crowd loves for organizations to take rapid “stand with xyz” positions but in most cases, the truth takes time to reveal itself.
Consequences only enormous for bad basketball players
I’m imagining some telling me in 1990 that Charles Barkley, of all people, would be the voice I trust most in pro sports about moral and social issues.
Ja got 25 games for being dumb while guys get no punishment for beating women. Good job Adam
Chuck knows how to play to his base
Imagine if Silver responded: "Did you beat your wife today?
