In his latest patch run down, he is saying in a condescending manner that you can actually type in chat “Karthus Ult” instead of pinging it if you want to make your teammate aware of a kill opportunity.
Completely ignoring various complex situations that could arise:

You could be in a teamfight which does not allow you in that timeframe while for example chasing, disengaging or/and anticipating flanks, etc., to type during all of that “Karthus Ult” (you rather want to press Tab > ping the Ult)

There are many players who have their chat muted since they do not want to experience the toxicity and blaming that is going on, rather focusing on the game itself (So, how you gonna tell that Karthus to Ult, should I spam my pings in his face so that he certainly won’t think that I am flaming him?)
It just shows that Phreak, whom I have nothing against since I think that he gets too much heat just by being a popular figure in the Balance Team, is instead of thinking in-depth about the negatives of the ping changes which are stifiling necessary communication in a team game; he rather is doubling down with such an oversimplified, contemptuous reaction towards that criticism.
The player base is not able to communicate properly in a video game that is team based to the core, and instead of creating a safe space for everybody and everything, we should rather find solutions that do not restrict its most crucial communication tools, but rather to combat the real issues why there is so much in-game misbehaviour.
And that is also easy to answer with a very simple, but a revealing sentence:
“I can mute your chat and pings, but I can not mute you from running it down and therefore ruining peoples games”.
These negative behaviours occur because of your neglience for so many years of not actually barring players from Ranked Mode who run it down, rage quit, intentional feed and therefore nearly always get away with it, ruining countless other games. And the only “revenge”, if you can call it, is then the community using profane language and abusing communication tools to get their frustration out somehow since you guys are not doing anything about it in the first place!

Revert it all at minimum and ideally introduce the voice chat that only high-honor players can use.

The problem is that if you write, there is a risk of getting banned for harassing an ally. Maybe he didn’t want to ult because he was waiting for the optimal moment to use first strike, and one opponent was already dead. Did I use the word dead? I’m sorry, please don’t ban me. What I meant was that the opponent was unavailable.
just saying “screw you” to disabled players who literally cannot type in game. I play with a sip puff controller and I cannot use my hands to type out messages while I’m playing

sometimes i wonder if they know the changes are dumb and they do it just for content, because it certainly is entertaining (for someone that doesn’t play) !Jesus fucking christ not everyone has a high wpm. I can type fairly fast but my wrist is already at risk for carpal tunnel. I even resort to playing low mechanical champs. Now this fucker wants me to type a whole fucking sentence during a team fight.
Just fucking wow that people like him get a position to affect the game. If I wanted to use my whole fucking keyboard then I’d be fucking playing Dota 2. That’s like one of the main fuckingn selling point of this game. ITS MUCH FUCKIGN EASIERR
In this case, Riot is really “treating the symptoms rather than the cause”.
Instead of assisting someone who is depressed in getting better, picture telling them to simply commit suicide because that will put an end to their depression.
Just want to point out some people on this sub who agree with the ping changes always counter-argument that the argument “just mute the toxic player” is not a good one because “the damage is already done” and now comes Phreak with the “just type karthus ult” when the whole point of ping system is because it’s much faster than typing
I moved back to dota 2. Honestly its been feeling these past few months the game is dumbed down and players are handicapped to such a degree where i feel like i have no impact on the outcome of the match. Coupled that with the absolute idiotic balance changes and overall state of the game and i just not having fun playing league anymore. Such a shame.
Learning how to use pings more effectively has helped me climb elo and I just mute if ppl are too toxic w their pings. I would hate for Riot to put restrictions on pings.
