Java edition, latest update.
I have a world that i’ve invested so much time into that is currently stored on my local machine. Even my brother hops on time to time when i “Open to LAN”
recently my friend told me that he bought Minecraft Java, and i want him to get in on this cool action. obvious problem is he’s not on my internet so the simple “Open to LAN” option isnt available.
is there a way to get a server going using my ‘level.dat’ so that we can all play via online?? and if so, is there a way to make it private such that it would just be me and those i want on this server?

When I moved from my local machine to a server, my inventory was gone. Tried this a couple of times. The easiest solution I found was to dump my inventory into a chest, then move the files to the server and get your stuff back from the chest.
Don’t forget your armour.
