Fellow Redditor owns a MKV Supra, but recently got a G82 M4. This was his response when I asked how the M4 drives compared to his Supra. Is this blasphemy? 😂

Eh, preference is what it is. My ‘favorite’ car I’ve ever driven was a '72 Porsche 911T. It had all of about 140hp new and was essentially the entry level 911 for that run, but even driving the speed limit, it felt like you were going 130 around Spa or something. It was the first car I drove where “Miles of Smiles” made sense. The closest any other car has come to that was a Mini Cooper S with all the driving aids turned off via a chip tune.

That said, even as a weekend driver, it’d be a tough car to own. At it’s age, power, and size, just the size of your passenger(s) could drastically alter how it performed and the MFI system required pretty constant maintenance. It’d take A LOT of sports cars over a '72 911T right now.

The cars people like to drive is rarely something you can determine with a stat sheet…and usually comes with caveats anyway.

      Preach.

2022 M240i absolutely dunks on my 1990 ZR-1 in every performance metric and nearly every comfort department, but no way would I take the BMW if what I want is to engage with and enjoy the operation of the machine.
