I had my m340i in for regular service, and got an 2023 840i xDrive as a loaner - nice car, lovely leather, ventilated seats, in general, a great car. What I don’t understand however, is how that car is $30k more than my m340i - I just don’t see what you are getting for all that extra money?
I was hoping it’d have massage seats or something fun for all that cash, but convenience features over my car it was only ventilated seats I could find. I just don’t see the point.
more sound deadening, better stereo/tech, rarity, people will think your richer driving an 8 series, etc.
you could make this argument with any two cars. as you move up in the car world you get diminishing returns. “my 765LT is faster than a P1 and has more features, why is that car costing over 500k more ?”
I considered the 840i to replace my 640i, test drove it, it wasn’t that big of a difference in terms of performance, tech and interior wise, definitely! So I ended up getting the M850i instead, it makes more sense to me.
