I watched the last couple of games of the Bucks.
And I felt something I had never felt before. Lillard is really, really good at getting calls.
So, I checked the basketball reference. And the result is a bit shocking
He is 1st in FTA(all players) and FTr(for non-center and > 100 mins).
Dame / FTA. / FTr. / FGA
Dame | FTA | FTr | FGA |
---|---|---|---|
2023 | 10.7 | 0.636 | 15.7 |
2022 | 9.5 | 0.464 | 20.7 |
2021 | 6.2 | 0.328 | 19.0 |
2020 | 7.3 | 0.363 | 19.9 |
2019 | 7.5 | 0.384 | 20.4 |
The FTr jump is quite substantial. What happened?
His FGA is reduced a bit, but his FTA is up. Generally, players would not up their contact/rim attacking game when they reach the mid-30s.
And I doubt he is suddenly better at flopping/complaining/being friends with the refs, or is he?
Just FYI. The highest FTr season for the famous FT merchant James Harden is his 2021-22 season in the Sixers.
Harden | FTA | FTr |
---|---|---|
2021(76ers) | 8.9 | 0.650 |
Whatever class he took, he should recommend it to those young guards who have low FTr (Cade 0.22 FTr and Haliburton 0.27)
So… You chose Harden, as the player that changed the game, averaging over 10 FTA’s/game as the scoring champ - But, not ANY of those Harden career high seasons.
