For reference, Tatum and Brown are both at their lowest assist rates since 2019-20, after losing our assist leader in Smart. Meanwhile Tatum is at his highest career turnover rate, while Brown is at his lowest turnover rate since 2019-20.

The Jays’ Turnovers Per Game

So the Jays’ turnovers are about par for the course, but the assists are somewhat concerning. We now have a guard in Jrue who they trust to initiate more than Brogdon, as well as a player in KP who they trust to isolate more than any 3rd option since Kemba. We’ll see if our guys adjust and grow as the season goes along.
It doesn’t help that our bench has been ice cold. Maybe the data doesn’t support my eyes, but I feel like there’s a lot of missed opportunities for assists due to missing wide open shots
