And I seriously do not mean to come off in a negative manner, I absolutely love the Steam Deck, and I think it’s a brilliant device, but for me; the Deck sadly collects dust 95% of the time. This is mainly due to the fact I rarely leave the house, I regularly play games on a full PC and or PS5.

I got the Deck initially because some folk said that even despite having a PC, just being able to play games in on a handheld, whether it be in bed, sat on the couch or wherever, was enough to justify the purchase, and while it was cool for a couple of weeks, the novelty wore off.

With the announcement of the Steam Deck OLED, my Deck hype is once again flourishing, and to re iterate again, I do not hate the Deck, but does anyone else find themselves feeling this way?

Nope. I got mine about 6 months after release, so I’ve had it for just over a year. It’s been a good year.

And while I do have gripes about the experience at times as an early adopter, it doesn’t induce regret about my purchase. Because the steam deck is still the best choice of all the options available. The dual-trackpads with Steam Input, plus a non-windows OS is still the winner.

Product improvements happen in all product categories, but it would be silly to consider having not had a Steam Deck for the past 14 months just to be able to get an OLED version as my first purchase. Lost enjoyment cannot be measured or replaced.

Playing Diablo 4, Cyberpunk 2077, etc on the go, and/or in my car when I have a break is not a novelty that is ever going to wear off. Nor is having Nintendo Switch games running better and sharper than on the Switch itself.
