1995 Buick century, right at 500k mi.

Engine and transmision on their 2nd rebuilds.

3rd rebuild on the block would require custom pistons and sleeves so that’s a nonstarter, new ran engine is $3k with 7 year warranty.

Transmission is slipping badly, rebuild is $1900 with 1 year warranty, new reman is $2k with 3 year.

With install on both it’s $7k total.

Shop will do a package on it, engine and transmission, replace rack and power steering lines, struts and CV axles, Delco VI abs rebuild, install new AC system and chase 2 electrical gremlins for another $3k.

$10k in total for the work.

I got the car in late 1994 for $18.5k with 17 miles on it and I’m quite attached at this point.

Imhave an inheritance coming in worth $40k, I have some bills to cover but will easily have $35k left after that is said and done.

Should I throw the $10k at the old car and put possibly another 28 years on it or junk it and go for newer, potentially with issues I don’t know about unlike the Buick that I know like the back of my hand at this point?
